Edward was born at Westminster and known as ‘Longshanks’ becasue he was so tall.He had a wife Eleanor of Castile and was actually at war with her by his side when he found out he would be King. Richard I was a true ‘warrior’ King who had his own army by the time he was 16. He spent the whole time fighting and hardly any time in England and didn’t speak much English. Magna Carta

This was a ‘Great Charter’ that was signed (actually it was sealed as most Kings couldn’t write) by King John. He was forced to agree to it by the Barons to stop him abusing his power as King and take unfair taxes. Charter of the Forest

Henry III sealed the Charter of the Forest. This gave back some of the rights of the people over the forest. William I had made 22 ‘Royal Forests’ where only Royalty or guests could hunt and poor people were not allowed to put up fences (which meant keeping animals in was very difficult!) By agreeing the poor people could do more things in the forest he made it much fairer.
