Henry V

Henry V was a great warrior. He was fighting in his teens and even had an arrow go into his skull. The surgeon had to make a special tool to take the tip of the arrow out and be very careful Henry V did not get an infection. Henry V was left with a bad scar but we don’t know what it looked like as there are no paintings of that side of his face….

Edward IV – Ye Oldie Printing press and disappearing letters

Ever hear of the letter ‘thorne’? No? That’s in part due to Edward IV. When the printing press was introduced from Bruge in Brussels by William Caxton there was one letter it couldn’t produce. It made a sound similar to TH. The closest letter that looked like it was Y so this was used instead.
