Richard I

Richard I was a true ‘warrior’ King who had his own army by the time he was 16. He spent the whole time fighting and hardly any time in England and didn’t speak much English. Richard fought with his father Henry II which made Henry very sad but he still wanted Richard to be King when he died. Even though he was a great warrior he died of a wound from a single arrow. He was trying to take money from a small castle in Chalus France and was injured. He actually forgave the person who wounded him and gave him 100 shillings but when Richard died the culprit was still flayed alive and hanged. He only had two children and they were not with his wife (he hardly spent any time with her so that is not surprising), so when he died his brother John, who had been looking after England, became King.
