Henry V was a great warrior. He was fighting in his teens and even had an arrow go into his skull. The surgeon had to make a special tool to take the tip of the arrow out and be very careful Henry V did not get an infection. Henry V was left with a bad scar but we don’t know what it looked like as there are no paintings of that side of his face.
Henry V helped his father rule for a couple of years when his father was sick and was crowned in his late twenties on his father’s death
Henry V was also considered a bit brutal. When he won at the battle of Agincourt he had taken 8,000 men (with dysentery) against up to 50,000 French soldiers and won. He used his skill as a leader and the English archers with their longbows. When he had captured all the prisoners though, as his guards were outnumbered, he had the prisoners killed. The King of France Charles VI was forced to sign a treaty making Henry V the heir of France and Henry V also married Charles VI’s daughter. Although he expected to be made King of France Henry V died not long before Charles VI. This meant his baby son who had inherited the English throne would also be the heir to the French throne.
